Career Research and new project

This week my class and I were given an assignment about careers that has some sort of involvement with children. We were told to pick five careers and with each career we were told to give the description of the job, the salary, the education/ training for the job and we were to state whether we would ever consider the career. My five careers are Barber, cps worker, dentist, pediatrician and a high school teacher. We worked on this project throughout the week and was due yesterday. On Wednesday, we were given another project. Our last final project to be exact. We are suppose to right a series of what to expect for mothers during their pregnancy and what is happening to their baby and their body, month by month for the famous series What to Expect. We need to write 10 entries for 3 trimester for every 3 months.

Toddler daycare and my own Baby!

This week, my class were paired up to create our own toddler daycare layout. I don't know if you remember, but my class has had done this project once before, but with infants. We had to include everything that a well operated daycare should have. Moving on to "my own baby"!!!, this was my week to have my own electronic baby. I have been waiting all semester for this opportunity, and I'm stoked. This was my chance to have a taste of what it feels like to be an actual mom. I'm here is report to you after day one with Isaiah Brooks, that its nothing like i expected it to be. Im running on four hours of sleep. Shopping and going out for dinner isn't the same anymore. Im deathly afraid of leaving my baby alone, fearing that it will start crying. I know realistically that a live baby won't cry every hour, but so far I'm scared to ever have kids. Maybe thats why they have us do projects like this; to teach us to not have early sex. Lesson learned.. I can't go out to public places such as parties and malls because my baby cries like no other. I have 2 days left with Isaiah Brooks.... Wish me luck.

11/20 makeup

This week, my class and I made our ideal toddler schedule and menu, as if we were running our own daycare. We planned out activities that we wanted to do with our children. We had to include developments such as, motor skills and so on. On top of that we had to include meals for our day care as well. Each day, my daycare had something different. For the meals, we had to include breakfast and lunch; also some snacks in between. Then my actual class got to watch inside out and answered questions about emotions. Towards the end of the week, everyone in my class paired up and made our own toddler toy design. The toy had to include developments and it had to be completely original.

11/6 makeup

This week my class made a toddler lesson plan. We pretended as if we had an actual toddler classroom to teach. We also had to pick a theme to go off of. Mine was about disney movies. I picked movies such as Frozen and so on. For each movie, i had to make a lesson for emotional and cognitive development. I had my class draw, read and even acted as the characters in the movie. Towards mid week, my actual class watched the little mermaid and answered questions on how the character of Ariel fits the role of a toddler.

toddler lesson plan

This week we did more hands on lessons rather than taking notes. My group and I made a lesson about how toddlers organize different shapes into patterns. this developed fine motor and cognitive skills. The teachers, my group and I, will tell the toddlers (class)  to make certain shapes and then the class will try to make it. On monday, everyone picked a partner and together, We made a literacy cube. The cube had to be a story that teaches the toddler a lesson. My partner and I made our literacy cube on food and the colors of it. we also added important lessons on how to eat the foods as well.

Toddler

This week we begab to learn about toddlers and their developments. We took notes and did many hands on activites to show ways of how toddlers develop physically, and so on. We had five stations with different activites for each. One, for example was blocks. This helps toddlers develop physically because it helps with hand eye coordination and fine motor skills because in order to play with blocks, your fingers and hands are in use.  My class also did a shaving cream activitiy. I was not here for this activity but from what i learned, they played with shaving cream and created whatever they wanted with it. This developed both cognitive and physically skills.

This week, my partner and I had to plan and create a safe/ stimulating child care center. We had to have certain things in our care center such as 11 cribs, a literacy, physical, social development area. We also needed to included where we would store our supplies and necessities. We included an outdoor play area as well. For the dramatic play area, I added a toy kitchen, so that the children can break reality, and become someone of their choice that is different from themselves. We had tables, rocking chairs, changing tables, toy rugs, play-sets, high chairs included. In our powerpoint, We had to include real pictures of items that we were gonna out in our child care, if it was real life.
